Thank you for your interest in donating to the Music in the Mountains Scholarship Fund.  We have formatted our donor information page with frequently asked questions (FAQ) that many of our contributors inquire about before they make a donation.  If you do not find the answers to your questions on this page, please feel free to call us at (828) 693-3726 to discuss your contribution.

Q:  Are monetary donations to the Music in the Mountains Scholarship Fund tax deductible?

A:  YES!  The Music in the Mountains Scholarship Fund is a 501c3, non-profit corporation in the State of North Carolina. All monetary donations are tax deductible as allowed by State and Federal tax laws. The Music in the Mountains Scholarship Fund will email a contribution letter to each donor to use as their donation receipt for tax purposes.

Q:  How do I contribute to the Music in the Mountains Scholarship Fund Scholarship Fund?

A:  Donors may contribute to the Music in the Mountains Scholarship Fund by writing a check or donating online by clicking HERE.  All online donations are secure. Donations by check should be made payable to “Music in the Mountains Scholarship Fund” and can be mailed to the Music in the Mountains Scholarship Fund, PO Box, 741, Etowah, NC  28729.  Donors can choose to be listed on our Scholarship donation tiers for special recognition on our website and at Music in the Mountains Scholarship Fund events.  If the donor chooses, their gifts can also be held in the strictest of confidence.  You may give us a call at 828-693-3726 to discuss your donation or if you have any additional questions prior to donating. All donations go toward our general scholarship fund and are appropriated by the Board of Directors unless prior arrangements have been made to create a fund based upon the donor’s specific wishes and requirements.

Q:  What percentage of donations actually fund Music in the Mountains scholarships?

A:  The Music in the Mountains Scholarship fund is administered by a Board of Directors and volunteer staff that are not compensated. Our overhead costs for administrative and marketing is less than 5% of total gifts, depending upon the annual amounts collected. Approximately 95% or more of total gifts are used to fund our scholarships.

Q:  Can donations be made in honor or memory of a family member or loved one to the Music in the Mountains Scholarship Fund?

A:  Yes.  All Diamond, Platinum, and Gold Sponsors can designate their scholarship donations for private lesson, ensemble, music class, and university/college scholarships in honor or memory of a loved one or family member.  Please give us a call at 828-693-3726 to discuss the details.

Q:  Can donations be made to fund a specific scholarship type to the Music in the Mountains Scholarship Fund?

A:  Yes.  All Diamond, Platinum, and Gold Sponsors can designate their scholarship donations toward a special scholarship to fund a specific need such as orchestral strings scholarships, piano scholarships, university/college music student scholarships, etc. We can even set up a specific scholarship to honor or memorialize a family member or loved one. Q:  How does the Music in the Mountains Scholarship Fund award scholarships to students?

A:  There are several factors considered when awarding student scholarships. These factors include financial need, proposed commitment to music education, talent, and current performance skill level.  Scholarships are only renewed if recipients complete the requirements during their funding period. These scholarships my also be revoked if the recipients are not fulfilling funding requirements. Scholarships may be decreased or increased for subsequent funding periods depending upon the recipients performance and commitment level during each funding period.
